THE APPLICATION: Green Street, situated in the prestigious Mayfair district of London, is renowned for its rich architectural heritage, featuring elegant Georgian façades and commanding one of the capital’s most sought-after addresses.
SCOPE OF WORK: To design, manufacture, and install bespoke GRP lighting diffusers, optimised for structural stability and engineered for exceptional performance over their operational lifespan.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client, 0800 Group, commissioned Hayward GRP to design, manufacture, and install five custom-engineered lighting diffusers for one of their high-end refurbishment projects within Mayfair’s exclusive Green Street. The specification required the diffusers to deliver long-term structural stability under demanding conditions, including resistance to deflection, torsional twisting, and cumulative loading stresses.
In addition, the project necessitated the development of a fully integrated suspension and mounting assembly, engineered to support the substantial modular structures, each measuring five metres in length, ensuring both ease of installation and enduring mechanical integrity.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Hayward GRP conducted an in-depth site survey alongside the 0800 Group’s project team, enabling us to produce a comprehensive project proposal that included design support, construction drawings, detailed CAD modelling, and fully compliant RAMS documentation.
Following client approval, Hayward GRP produced precision CNC-milled master patterns, complex production tooling, and engineered fixtures. This enabled our team to produce the five bespoke lighting diffusers, each engineered for dimensional precision and consistent structural stability under operational load.
A full factory test build of each lighting diffuser was conducted to validate the geometry, accuracy, and structural integrity prior to delivery and installation by our site team.
THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
This technically intricate commission demanded advanced tooling strategies, precision-engineered fixtures, and the formulation of a high-performance GRP laminate specification capable of resisting deflection, torsional stresses, and shrinkage during manufacture.
The final outcome was an installation of exceptional quality, flawlessly aligned, structurally robust, and a showcase of engineering excellence. It stands as both a technical achievement and a testament to the collaborative synergy between the 0800 Group and Hayward GRP.
