THE CLIENT: Electrosonic is a renowned international audiovisual and technology services company dedicated to designing, building, and supporting innovative technology solutions that deliver unforgettable audio-visual experiences.
PROJECT LOCATION: Europa Park, situated in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, spans an impressive 95 hectares. This extraordinary theme park features twenty uniquely themed areas, nearly one hundred rides, fourteen thrilling roller coasters and much more.
THE RIDE: Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you journey to the enigmatic island of Rulantica! Accompanied by Snorri, a playful octopus, you’ll navigate through a captivating water kingdom inhabited by trolls and mermaids. Board a rubber dinghy for an expedition that will unveil the diverse themed areas of this magical island.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client, Electrosonic, approached Hayward GRP to design, develop, and deliver two large, 6-metre-diameter immersive projection screens. With our extensive experience in producing high-quality simulator and projection screens, we were the natural choice for this project.
Our mandate was to provide a complete turnkey solution, including the design, manufacture, and installation of both large screens in Germany. The surface of each screen required in situ painting using a high-performance, reflective acrylic coating to ensure optimal image clarity.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Electrosonic entrusted Hayward GRP with the complex challenge of delivering two custom-engineered, 6-metre-diameter projection screens for the new Dark Ride experience at Europa Park.
Rising to the brief, we submitted a fully integrated design and build proposal, covering everything from initial concept visuals and CAD development to CNC-milled master patterns, precision tooling, and final fabrication. Every detail was crafted with technical accuracy and a commitment to immersive visual impact.
Additionally, we conducted thorough factory test builds for client approval prior to shipping the screens to Germany for our on-site installation team.
THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
This project exemplified Hayward GRP at its best, efficient, adaptable, and committed to excellence. While executing the installation of the two primary 6-metre projection screens, our on-site team proactively took on additional enhancements, refinishing and coating several smaller screens that supported broader aspects of the attraction.
