THE CLIENT: Established in 1971, Sovereign Construction is a highly respected commercial and retail construction specialist. Renowned for its precision shopfitting expertise, the company delivers both new-build and refurbishment projects across a diverse range of commercial property sectors.
THE PROJECT LOCATION: Kepplestone is a prestigious seafront residential development in Eastbourne’s sought-after Meads area, known for its mansion-style apartments and attractive communal gardens, its positioned close to the seafront and within walking distance of Meads village and Eastbourne town center.
SCOPE OF WORK: To design and manufacture, replacement GRP soffits and facias to withstand the seafront environment, whilst preserving the architectural integrity of the building.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client: Sovereign Construction commissioned Hayward GRP to undertake the design and manufacture of replacement GRP soffits and fascias for one of Kepplestone’s principal seafront blocks. The specification demanded components capable of withstanding prolonged seafront exposure and winds, GRP was the obvious material for the project due to its light weight and durability.
Another project criterion was the development of adaptable GRP tooling, enabling the accurate production of multiple bespoke profiles. This tooling approach was strategically designed to facilitate the replication of all required components across the development, thereby ensuring cost efficiency and scalability for subsequent phases, including the refurbishment of two further buildings within the Kepplestone complex.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Hayward GRP carried out a complete site survey, enabling our engineering team to assess the existing soffit and fascia detail and take highly accurate measurements and templates. A detailed project proposal was prepared, incorporating drawings, construction samples, and installation methodology to ensure an efficient and precise installation.
Following client approval, our production facility manufactured precision master patterns, Production Moulds, and 300 linear metres of engineered GRP soffit and fascia, we also created special mouldings like corners, Bay window trims, and other architectural elements required to complete the installation.
Every component was engineered for durability, UV stability, and seafront exposure, ensuring seamless integration with the building’s existing façade.

Delivered on time and to exact specification, the Kepplestone soffit and fascia replacement project exemplifies Hayward GRP’s capacity to blend technical excellence with architectural sensitivity.
