PROJECT LOCATION: Lanyard House is a residential development situated in Windlass Place, Lewisham, within the Evelyn area. The building is conveniently located near Surrey Quays Station and Canada Water, providing excellent transport links to central London and Canary Wharf.
SCOPE OF WORK: Design, manufacture, and install a new GRP entrance canopy for Lanyard House, providing a like-for-like replacement of the original structure.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The Facilities Management team at Lanyard House engaged Hayward GRP after the original GRC entrance canopy deteriorated, becoming structurally compromised and posing a significant safety concern for residents. The client wanted a GRP replacement that was exactly like the original in terms of design and structure, and they wanted it delivered as a complete turnkey package.
This included the careful removal and environmentally responsible disposal of the existing canopy, followed by the manufacture and installation of the new GRP structure.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Hayward GRP began the project with a thorough site survey to ensure accurate measurements and a comprehensive dimensional analysis. The original GRC canopy was safely removed and transported to our workshop for further evaluation, allowing us to create detailed technical drawings.
Our team created a direct tool to produce the new GRP canopy from. This process ensured that the replacement would match the original in form, appearance, and proportion, while also providing enhanced durability.
The new canopy had integrated lifting points for easy installation, an embossed “Lanyard House” name plaque for architectural continuity, and an upgraded entrance light to improve resident experience and safety. As part of our commitment to quality assurance, we provided a ten-year guarantee on the new canopy.
