THE CLIENT: A private entrepreneur with an established automotive collection.
THE PROJECT: To develop and implement a bespoke suspended lighting solution to enhance the visual presentation of a luxury sports car collection housed in a subterranean showroom.
SCOPE OF WORK: To design, manufacture and install nine bespoke 1.5m diameter pendant lampshades to a high-specification finish.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client, introduced to Hayward GRP via recommendation, sought a partner capable of delivering a bespoke, statement lighting feature to elevate the ambience of his private subterranean showroom. In collaboration with the appointed lighting architects, we were commissioned to design, manufacture, and install an architectural lighting solution that would deliver both engineering precision and dramatic visual impact.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
After successfully being awarded the project, we undertook an on-site technical review with the client and lighting architects to define project parameters and visual objectives, this allowed our design team to produce detailed CAD drawings, photorealistic renderings, and a compliance-aligned specification documented to support decision-making and regulatory approvals.
Upon receiving sign off, Hayward GRP manufactured precision tooling and nine large pendant lampshades, each finished in a flawless black gloss finish to reflect and amplify ambient lighting. The final installation was carried out by our own site team, ensuring perfect spatial positioning and integration with the client’s lighting control systems.
THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
This project exemplified the synergy between bespoke design and advanced manufacturing. Hayward GRP manufactured nine meticulously finished GRP pendant lampshades, each engineered to harmonise with the spatial geometry and lighting grid of the client’s architectural envelope. The expansive, contoured ceiling served as an ideal backdrop for the 1.5-metre diameter lampshades, their sleek designs and glossy black surfaces created a striking contrast against the cold cathode light grid.
Completed within a tight construction schedule and to exacting standards, this project showcases our ability to deliver precision-engineered solutions that are both technically innovative and visually striking.
