LOCATION: The Mall of Qatar, located in the Rawdat Al Jahhaniya district of Al Rayyan, is a flagship retail and entertainment hub, setting a world-class benchmark for commercial destinations in the Middle East.
SCOPE OF WORK: Hayward GRP was appointed to develop and manufacture nine large-scale flying egrets, a bold artistic challenge at the heart of a visionary lighting installation.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client: Ivor Trimby needed a highly specialised GRP partner capable of delivering precision artistry at scale. The brief? Create nine striking flying egrets to enhance one of his lighting installations for the Mall of Qatar. This project demanded not only creative excellence in GRP, metalwork, and surface finishes, but also a fast turnaround to meet a strict deadline ahead of the Mall’s grand opening.

OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Taking the lead on this prestigious project, Hayward GRP presented a comprehensive proposal for the creation of the nine bespoke egret sculptures. This included detailed workshop drawings, meticulous project planning and a full-size mock-up for client approval.
Following sign-off, our team crafted precision master patterns and moulds to produce nine large GRP egrets, each adorned with bespoke hand-painted artistry. We also took full responsibility for verifying internal fitment of metal frameworks and lighting component, ensuring fit and function before shipping them to site for installation.
THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
The result is a stunning fusion of light, movement, and sculpture. Our collaboration with Ivor Trimby brought to life nine stunning GRP majestic Egret sculptures, illuminated in flight across the west wall by the main entrance. Suspended in motion against a cascading wall of water. These graceful birds merge lighting with contemporary art, transforming the space into an immersive visual experience that captivates both local visitors and those from around the world.
