THE CLIENT: Pave Testing stands at the forefront of advanced pavement testing technology, providing essential equipment for the precise monitoring and maintenance of roadways and runway surfaces worldwide.
THE APPLICATION: The Pave Testing CFME (Continuous Friction Measuring Equipment) is a comprehensive solution developed to meet the needs of international Highways Agencies, Departments of Transport, and Aviation Regulators. The system accurately identifies and analyses surface irregularities, helping maintain the integrity, safety, and performance of all paved surfaces, including roads and runways.
SCOPE OF WORK: To support the client in the design and manufacture of a prototype trailer bodywork solution aligned with their technical and visual requirements.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client: Pave Testing required a collaborative partner with proven expertise in precision GRP moulding to bring their latest vision to life. Following a comprehensive review of specialist manufacturers across the UK, the client selected Hayward GRP, recognised for our technical rigour and design versatility.
The objective was to engineer and produce the advanced GRP bodywork for the CFME trailer. Key design criteria included a lightweight yet durable construction with a flawless, colour-matched high-gloss yellow finish. Additionally, the client requested recessed branding on both sides of the trailer bodywork, creating a precise inset area for painted or vinyl graphics.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
Upon securing the commission, our engineering team at Hayward GRP worked in close collaboration with Pave Testing’s design specialists to fully understand the technical and operational parameters of the trailer. This collaborative approach enabled us to produce a comprehensive project proposal, including CAD development, technical workshop drawings, and innovative B-face geometry solutions.
With full client approval, we created a CNC-machined master pattern and a precision-engineered multi-part production tool, delivering the first batch of GRP bodywork for both functional and aesthetic evaluation.
THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
This project exemplified clarity in vision and seamless execution. Our team delivered ultra-precise GRP trailer bodywork, finished to the highest gloss standards, complete with inset client branding on both flanks, a result both refined and robust in equal measure.
