THE LOCATION: Ten Trinity Square stands as one of London’s most exclusive addresses, home to a five-star hotel and a private member’s club, the former Port of London building Located close to the Thames and the Tower of London, commands sweeping views of the river, the city skyline, and the iconic Tower Bridge.
SCOPE OF WORK: To design, engineer, manufacture, and install 37 precision GRP fins within the internal courtyard of Ten Trinity Square.
INTRODUCTION IN BRIEF
The client: Reignwood Group required a GRP specialist with advanced engineering capabilities to develop and deliver 37 architectural fins for Ten Trinity Square’s internal courtyard. Each fin featured a striking 180-degree twist and measured between 10 and 14 metres in height. A critical project requirement was the creation of a single set of adaptive tooling to manufacture all 37 fins, streamlining lead times and controlling cost while maintaining design integrity.
OUR SOLUTION AND OBJECTIVES
After being awarded the project, Hayward GRP collaborated closely with the client’s design team to address the project’s complexities and performance requirements. Our proposal included a comprehensive design and engineering solution, incorporating advanced calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure the structural integrity of the fins, their attachment points, and their ability to withstand wind loading in the courtyard.
Following client approval, we created CNC milled master patterns and precision tooling, this allowed us to meticulously manufacture the GRP fins. Each fin incorporated 30 internal precision structural GRP elements which where water jet trimmed and accurately set in during assembly, this process achieved precise geometry and ensured long-term structural integrity.

THE RESULT IN CONCLUSION
This prestigious project allowed the Hayward GRP team to contribute to one of London’s most distinguished hospitality destinations, combining a hotel, spa, and fine dining experiences within a landmark architectural setting. The internal courtyard has been masterfully conceived as a space in constant dialogue with its surroundings, responding to the play of light, the shift from day to night, and the reflective interplay of glass and water within the rotunda.
The 37 sculptural GRP fins provide a dynamic, geometric visual experience, producing an optical illusion that enhances both form and function. These elements offer privacy to the courtyard-facing hotel rooms while preserving an open, spacious aesthetic.
